Bus System in Ísafjörður

A bus system created especially for the capital of west Iceland, Ísafjörður.

Ísafjörður and it's neighbouring towns share a bys system, using 3 busses that drive 5 routes. They wanted a "full-size" system that would be taken seriously, but would also reflect the layed back local atmosphere of the towns.

A map of the area, timetables and more information was designed and set up in roughly 30 bus-stops.

The whole system was designed with that in mind that it will be changed twice a year (the timetables have a winter and a summer schedule) and with them some of the graphics will also change. For the first set we included a image of the town of Ísafjör?ur, but the traveller can only see a portion of it. To see all parts one must use every stop.

The logo was designed by Siggi Eggertsson and the frames were also designed and built especially to withstand the crazy weather the area gets during winter. The frames were designed by Stefán Pétur Sólveigarson.

Done as a project at
Atelier Atli Hilmarsson.
